About Ayurvedic Medicine — And How it Can Help You:

About Ayurvedic Medicine

Ayurveda, often translated as “the science of life,” is an ancient medical system of the east that dates back centuries. Indeed, Ayurveda's holistic approach of healing evolved from ancient India more than 3000 years ago, and its medical philosophy stems from texts recorded around 100 A.D. that are still the basis for effective diagnosis and treatment today.

Specifically, Ayurveda focuses on establishing and maintaining balance of the life energies within us, rather than focusing solely on individual symptoms. To this end, Ayurveda seeks to heal the fragmentation of the mind-body complex and restore wholeness and harmony.

Witnessing the Results First-Hand: A Personal Connection

During Almine's travels throughout the world studying various medical systems, she initially came upon Ayurveda in 1994 in Kerala, India. She was immediately intrigued with the melding of nutrition, Indian therapeutic oil blends and constitutional treatments.

She also observed first-hand how Ayurvedic physicians excelled at treating certain disorders such as diabetes, liver ailments, toxic buildup in the body and respiratory ailments.

In 1997 Almine returned again to India — though, unexpectedly, she became a patient of Ayurveda. On a layover in Gaya, she acquired a severe case of amoebic dysentery. This enabled her to observe the workings and results of Ayurvedic medicine from the inside out. Fortunately, her treating physician was a wealth of knowledge, serving as a mentor on the topic of Ayurveda along the way. From there, she began learning various protocols for specific gastrointestinal disorders, which she applies today in work with her patients.
